Elliot took a deep breath, oddly, she wasn't nervous, not about finally walking down the aisle to Erik after their wedding had been delayed for nearly a year. She was more anxious about having other people's eyes on her all day, she had never liked to be the centre of attention. But the ceremony and reception were kept small and intimate, a headcount of around fifty or so, the last time that Elliot had checked the guest list. That made it more tolerable. Honestly, she probably would have been fine with simply going to the courthouse, and then having a quiet celebration with their close friends afterwards, but this did feel right.
In spite of all that had happened over the past few years, it would be good for people to have a happy sort of day. Elliot looked at herself in the mirror, lightly fixing her hair. She was alone in the bride's room, she hadn't wanted anybody to be with her as she got ready, needing the time to collect her thoughts in peace. At any rate, she figured that her two bridesmaids, her younger sister and Natalia, would understand that she needed to be alone a moment. Swiveling up the tube of lipstick, she lightly applied another coat, examining her makeup application one last time.
It was clean and simple, but at the same time much more elaborate than what she might use on a day-to-day basis. Once she was confident her hair and cosmetics were in place, Elliot examined the dress, and how it hung on her thin frame. She'd been struggling again with her weight, and when she had zipped up the dress found it slightly too roomy. Elliot's stomach churned, she hated feeling like she was failing. She was getting better, though, enough so to the point where a small slice of cake at the reception wasn't daunting.
Elliot hadn't had so much as a muffin in years... But, just as she was ready to marry the love of her life, she was ready to put all her effort into getting well. Their world might be a dark and dangerous place, but together they would be able to find the light. They had do. Elliot lightly wrung her hands, beginning to pace. Twenty minutes until the ceremony was set to begin, and she had run out of things to obsessively fix... Elliot flinched slightly when she heard a knock at the door, it had been unexpected to say the least. "Who is it?" Elliot called, rather than going to open the door.

Frankly, Tobias didn't think he was going to see this day anytime soon. When Elliot had first contacted the family about her engagement a little over a year ago, he had been surprise, albeit thrilled. This had certainly not been expected. He hadn't even known that Elliot was seeing Erik again. Still, he supposed this was long over-due. The pair were perfect together, as they always had been, and she couldn't possibly have chosen anyone less lovable than Erik. Still, Tobias didn't think that his sister had the willpower to continue on, after Mum died.
The eldest took it the hardest, as was the norm. Tobias had cut, and Elliot had spiraled into depression. The eldest Potter boy didn't think that Elliot would ever willingly marry someone, knowing that she could potentially lose her spouse one day. Still, this revelation gave him hope for the future. He'd been asked to be best man at the wedding, something he was justly proud of. The tux was incredibly uncomfortable, but he would survive. Playing with the bow-tie, he strode up the hallway to where his sister was getting ready. Raising his hand, he lightly knocked on the door.
"Who is it?"
Tobias managed a small smile, turning the knob and opening the door slightly. He poked his head inside. "Toby," he replied, inhaling sharply as he laid eyes on Elliot. There wasn't anything against the best man seeing the dress before the wedding, but both bride and groom were on opposite ends of the building. No one wanted the happy couple cheating. He stepped into the room, closing the door behind him. "Elliot, you look beautiful," Tobias said softly, giving his sister a small smile while clasping his hands behind his back.

Elliot smiled softly when she saw that it was only Toby, the sibling that was closest to her in age. Honestly, she wouldn't have minded if it was Erik, she wasn't superstitious about the groom seeing the bride before the wedding. Really, she wasn't superstitious about anything, she was much too logical for that. Even as a child she had never really listened to those sorts of things, it wasn't in her nature. But she was glad that her brother of all people had come, out of anyone other than her soon-to-be-husband, he would understand that she needed this time to be quiet.
While she was looking forward to the wedding, something which had been postponed for so very long, Elliot knew that it would be an exhaustive day. She was an introvert, being around crowds wore her out. But a party really was what people needed these days, everything was so difficult, with the attack on the school and the auror department coming up on their one-year anniversary, people could do with something to be happy about- herself included. Elliot smiled again when Tobias complimented her, she didn't usually feel deserving on them, her perfectionist ways had always gotten in the way of that.
Elliot was slowly beginning to believe that some people might be truthful when they offered her kind words, and not simply saying them for the sake of being polite. She glanced at herself in the mirror again, for once in her life feeling at least a little pretty. It wasn't an adjective she had often used to describe herself. "I never thought I'd see you in a suit like this," Elliot said lightly with a smile, moving to gently straighten the lapels of his jacket. Even in her heels her younger brother positively dwarfed her, though she had always been very petite.

Tobias smiled as his sister turned to examine herself in the mirror. She really did look lovely, but it was something he wished that she could see for herself on a regular basis. It was difficult for women to see themselves as beautiful, but it was exceptionally so for Elliot. It was a little depressing, but Tobias didn't blame her. She'd been through a lot, and he himself found it difficult to find the good within himself, both inwardly and outwardly. He swallowed, smiling softly at Elliot. It was a wonderful sight. He didn't think he'd ever see the day.
When she turned, he could see that there were the remnants of a smile upon her face. That in itself widened the one plastered onto his face. Elliot wasn't the typical "blushing bride," so to speak, but she was certainly glowing. When she stepped forward, he watched her carefully. She reached forward and he resisted the urge to grimace as her hands went to the tie around his neck. Truthfully, the damn thing felt like a noose, but he'd survive. This was a fancy affair, after all, and he felt that it was his duty to at least look the part.
"I never thought I'd see you in a suit like this."
Toby laughed as his sister's hands went to straighten the lapels of the jacket. "You and me both," he replied, smiling brightly. He paused, smiling down at his sister before looking towards the clock on the wall. It was nearly time. Just a few more minutes, and he'd have to go take his place near Erik at the alter. Just a few more minutes, and Elliot would be handed off to her soon-to-be husband. He looked back to Elliot, taking her hands and lightly pressing a kiss to her forehead. Tobias pulled away, smiling down at her. "Are you ready?"

Elliot was beginning to feel a certain fluttering in her stomach and a weakness in her knees- though perhaps the second gripe of nervousness was only because she was wearing heels much higher than she normally might. Though at the same time, she was feeling an undeniable sense of sureness, she didn't at all question her decision to marry Erik, there was no other man in the world for her, but the process was simply daunting. Elliot had always hated being the centre of attention, and she didn't doubt that all eyes would be on her. She was the bride, the white dress in and of itself would attract a lot of attention- particularly with the colour scheme.
She and Erik had gone for simplicity and elegance, so the pallet for the evening was muted- mostly black with accents of white and silver. On herself the only thing that didn't coordinate was the polish on her toenails in a sapphire blue. Elliot might not believe in superstitions, but she had still done the something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. It had been her sister's idea, and the girl had been enthusiastic about it, so Elliot had played along. She wore her grandmother's pearls, her new dress, and of course the blue on her toenails.
Elliot chuckled lightly at Toby's words, it sounded awkward- awkward, but not false- she hadn't laughed properly in years, she hadn't found reason to. She smiled again when he kissed her forehead, the gesture really was reassuring... Her gaze too flickered to the clock on the wall, only a few more minutes, where had the time gone? She felt suddenly weak at the knees again, but the thought of walking down the aisle, gaze locked on Erik, calmed her slightly. She nodded when Toby asked if she was ready. "Yes, yes of course," said Elliot, taking in a deep breath.
